Job Title: Director of Operations
Department: Manufacturing
Reports to: President
FLSA Status: Full-time, Exempt
About BioFit:
BioFit Engineered Products is a US based manufacturer of premium laboratory and industrial seating. We serve customers in life sciences, education, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing. As we prepare for our next phase of growth, we are strengthening our operational leadership to improve execution, efficiency, and consistency across the organization.
The Opportunity:
BioFit is seeking a hands-on Director of Operations to lead and integrate our Production, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, and Maintenance functions.
This role is responsible for turning strategy into execution, aligning people, processes, and systems to deliver predictable results. The ideal candidate is comfortable on the production floor, decisive under pressure, and capable of leading through change.
This is not a caretaker role. It is an opportunity to build structure, enforce standards, and create an operating system that supports long-term success.
What You’ll be Responsible for:
· Lead day-to-day operations across manufacturing, engineering, quality, purchasing, and maintenance.
· Establish clear priorities, standards, and accountability across functions.
· Improve production flow, scheduling accuracy, and on-time delivery.
· Reduce costs through better execution, standard work, and waste elimination.
· Ensure ERP (Plex) is used as the single source of truth for operational data.
· Drive cross-functional alignment and resolve execution bottlenecks.
· Build credibility on the production floor and strengthen leadership effectiveness.
· Coach and hold managers accountable for results and behaviors.
· Lead operations within a union manufacturing environment, building strong working relationships with union leadership and hourly employees.
What We’re Looking For:
Required
· 10+ years of progressive operations leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
· Proven ability to lead multi-function operational teams.
· Strong execution mindset with a bias toward action.
· Experience improving efficiency, cost, quality, and delivery – not just planning.
· Comfort making and enforcing difficult decisions.
· Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Industrial Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience leading complex manufacturing operations will be considered.
Preferred
· Experience in engineered products, low-volume/high-mix manufacturing.
· Exposure to Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or operational transformation.
· ERP experience (Plex preferred)
· Experience working in a unionized manufacturing environment.
What Success Looks Like:
· Improved on-time delivery and schedule reliability
· Lower direct labor cost per unit
· Stronger coordination between the five departments
· Reduced scrap, rework, and operational firefighting
Why BioFit
· Visible, meaningful impact on the business.
· Direct access to the President.
· Opportunity to share structure, systems, and culture.
· Stable company with strong brand and long-term vision.
