Bowling Green, OH—June is National Safety Month and a midway point in BioFit’s yearlong resolution to increase emphasis on ergonomics to enhance workplace safety and productivity. To fulfill this resolution, BioFit is encouraging organizations to provide ergonomic seating and furnishing options for all workers.

As a leader in ergonomic chair and furnishing solutions, BioFit develops products that promote a healthy and safe work environment, which can benefit any workplace setting from healthcare and education to industrial and office settings.

BioFit’s line of seating options addresses control over posture and problems associated with risk of ergonomic injuries. The ideal design helps reduce the risk of musculoskeletal disorders and repetitive motion injuries, while also encouraging greater employee productivity. BioFit’s line of durable and ergonomically correct chairs are designed to meet industry standards and now include the new bimos by BioFit collection, an innovative addition to the already high standard of BioFit ergonomic seating options.

Although there is not a single correct seating posture, a fully adjustable ergonomic chair alleviates long-term sitting problems and the consequences associated with them. “Our chairs are designed to provide posture support while also maintaining freedom of movement,” Ed Metzger, president of BioFit, says. “Having the ability to move naturally while seated not only decreases the risk of injury, but it has also been proven to increase attentiveness and productivity. BioFit solutions can benefit any work setting and can help keep workers safe while avoiding preventable injuries.”

BioFit seating options include lumbar support, height adjustment and cushioned, adjustable armrests.  Components also include a seat that allows for even weight distribution, along with a five-legged pedestal base. All of these elements create an ideal seating option to improve worker well-being and productivity.

Located in Bowling Green, Ohio, BioFit Engineered Products is a leading manufacturer and global provider of LEED-compliant ergonomic chairs and stools, GREENGUARD-certified mobile tables, carts and accessories for healthcare, education, laboratory, industrial, technology, and office environments. Bowling Green, OH—BioFit, a worldwide leader in quality workplace furnishings, is set to debut the bimos by BioFit collection at NeoCon 2013 in Chicago next month. This series of seating solutions combines design elements from German seating manufacturer bimos with the proven ergonomic performance of BioFit. The first two chairs in the bimos by BioFit collection—Sintec and Fin—are slated for full-scale production soon, with another two selections—Unitec and All-in-One—scheduled for release later in the year.

Both BioFit and bimos are renowned for their emphasis on ergonomic seating solutions for a wide range of workplaces, from laboratories and healthcare facilities to educational environments, industrial settings and offices. By working with the forward-thinking design that bimos provides, BioFit is able to take its line of seating solutions in a bold new direction.

The Sintec chair features a futuristic design that complements modern workspaces. In addition, the Sintec offers an added level of flexibility and convenience with innovative removable seat and backrest pads, which are available in cloth upholstery, vinyl or self-skinned urethane. bimos has built lumbar support into the Sintec backrest that meets the BioFit rigorous ergonomic standards, and the pneumatic control—guaranteed for life by BioFit—ensures the optimal seat height for practically any worker.

Fin offers an ideal solution for workers who would normally spend the majority of their day standing, offering a swiveling seat placed on a forward-leaning column. The Fin’s ergonomic design takes stress off of the user’s legs and feet, redistributing weight over the wide seat and the inclined column. With slim lines and a sturdy base, the Fin is well-suited to a wide array of work environments, virtually any place where workers are often required to stand for extended periods.

According to BioFit president Ed Metzger, the bimos by BioFit collection, “enables us to reinforce both our commitment to quality and our dedication to design. It’s also an opportunity to put our uniquely American stamp on Europe’s leading workplace seating manufacturer. We are looking forward to bringing this global partnership to work environments throughout the United States and Canada.”

Headquartered in Germany, bimos is Europe’s leading designer and manufacturer of specialized seating solutions. Their corporate philosophy is based on combining the latest research and technology with traditional craftsmanship to provide seating that meets the specific needs of individual companies. As an Interstuhl brand, bimos is backed by decades of development and production experience.

Bowling Green, OH—BioFit, a worldwide leader in quality workplace furnishing solutions, is proud to announce a partnership with bimos, a German seating manufacturer whose engineering has made them the first choice for companies throughout Europe. This collaboration of two true innovators, called the bimos by BioFit collection, will make its debut at NeoCon 2013, June 10 – 12 at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago.

For BioFit president Ed Metzger, the partnership between these two companies is a natural fit.

“BioFit is a company for whom quality and design are paramount, and bimos by BioFit marks the first step in a bold new design direction,” he says, “Not only does bimos offer the ergonomics that are the cornerstone of BioFit engineering, but they also offer a fresh look that complements our existing line of seating, tables and accessories.”

Among the bimos by BioFit products to premiere at NeoCon is the Sintec chair, which features a futuristic design that meets the needs of modern workspaces. Sintec is also highly adaptable to a variety of environments, with optional upholstered, vinyl or self-skinned urethane seat and backrest pads that can be easily removed for use in industrial, laboratory and educational settings. Its anatomically designed backrest takes strain off the spine and delivers optimum lumbar support, while the pneumatic control built by BioFit ensures an ideal seat height for any user. “When people experience the new bimos by BioFit line at NeoCon,” Metzger states, “they’ll see that BioFit is truly committed to quality and dedicated to design.”

March 13, 2013

Bowling Green, OH—2013 marks the 20th anniversary of BioFit Engineered Products, a worldwide leader in workplace furnishings located in northwest Ohio. In their two decades, the company has witnessed incredible changes in their industry, and their ability to meet that change has led to equally incredible success and growth.

BioFit officially established itself in 1993, having evolved from stool manufacturer Ajusto, and with that came a renewed commitment to providing a variety of furnishing solutions across a full spectrum of work spaces, from educational and interior design environments to healthcare, laboratory and industrial settings. “Each of these environments has their own specific requirements,” says BioFit president Ed Metzger, “but all of them require quality engineering that stands up to rigorous use and delivers full ergonomic support.”

As a result, he adds, BioFit has placed durability and ergonomics at the center of their manufacturing and design.

“The human body hasn’t changed much in the last 20 years,” Metzger adds, “but our understanding of the importance of ergonomics has developed considerably.

As we come to realize more about the impact posture has on health and productivity, BioFit has developed seating that offers the adjustability and support that enables people to change their position throughout the workday—and that’s really the key to ergonomics.”

That ability to adapt also makes BioFit adept at providing for new markets as they emerge. Advancements throughout laboratory and high-tech environments rendered once-acceptable levels of clean room capability no longer sufficient, and BioFit worked to develop upholstery that delivers results to the highest industry standard—ISO 3/Class 1. The company had been providing electrostatic discharge (ESD) seating in operating rooms and munitions plants (two places where even a tiny spark could have explosive consequences), and brought that innovation to other work environments as well.

Static can also cause damage to sophisticated microchips, so the need for ESD seating in high-tech environments became equally imperative. BioFit helped develop upholstery that featured a layer of carbon underneath the outer layer. This prevents carbon from flaking off into the delicate environment of the clean room and ensures anti-static properties. BioFit has also been instrumental in the development of clean room testing standards that are used throughout these industries.

Ed Metzger credits the company’s twenty years of achievement to the dedicated team of BioFit professionals who deliver quality products and innovative engineering year after year. According to Metzger, “We are very proud to have remained successful in such a competitive field, and we look forward to delivering quality furnishings in the next twenty years.”

BioFit Engineered Products, a leader in furnishing solutions for workplaces worldwide, is dedicated to the idea that worker safety and productivity can be improved significantly through the use of ergonomics. In 2013, they are encouraging industrial workplaces and businesses everywhere to make a resolution to incorporate ergonomics in order to help create a work environment with fewer injuries and greater performance.

All BioFit products are designed with ergonomics in mind, including our full line of seating solutions.

By offering full adjustability, a seat that allows for even weight distribution, lumbar support and a five-legged pedestal base, BioFit chairs and stools help protect workers from the musculoskeletal disorders and repetitive motion injuries that can occur when workers are unable to change their position for long periods of time.

Studies also show that the right ergonomics can increase worker productivity. When people have the freedom to move naturally over the course of a work day, they are better equipped to remain attentive, and that has been proven to enhance performance among workers as their workdays extend to eight hours and beyond.

To that end, BioFit offers a complete line of seating solutions that are specifically engineered to meet the demands of various industrial settings. Many seating options are built from rugged polypropylene that can withstand the rigors of the workday, while others are self-skinned with durable urethane that resists water, chemicals, inks and paints. A variety of backrests and upholsteries are also available to suit the specifics of individual workspaces. And all BioFit industrial seating is engineered to last and is backed by a 13-year warranty. BioFit also works with specifiers to create custom furnishings when needed. For more information, visit www.biofit.com/ien, or call 800.597.0246.

BioFit Engineered Products, a worldwide leader in furnishing solutions, has recently been awarded several prestigious awards from key industry leaders.

Most recently, BioFit’s SwingSeat™ chair received Buildings magazine’s Grand Prize in Seating Solutions. This distinction was awarded at NeoCon 2011 in Chicago, where SwingSeat made its debut. The unique SwingSeat™ features a swiveling tripod base with pivoting arm that secures to any stable vertical surface, making it perfect for environments where space is at a premium. SwingSeat’s breakthrough design ensures that the chair is always there when it is needed—and out of the way when it’s not. Constructed with torsion-bar hinges for ease in folding, ToughEdge™ for sanitary cleaning, robotically-welded steel frames, contoured ABS seats, and industrial-grade wheels for better mobility and storage, the patent-pending Afton is GREENGUARD® certified and backed by an industry-leading 13-year warranty.

These awards come hot on the heels of recent Awards for Design Excellence (ADEX), established by Design Journal to recognize groundbreaking design in the furnishing industry. This year’s award went to BioFit’s Avant™ folding table, which features a unique, faceted table-top shape to enhance communication and help users interact better. Available in 10’ and 12’ lengths, Avant features a torsion-bar hinge for ease in folding and storing, ToughEdge™ treatment for sanitary cleaning, and a durable, robotically-welded steel frame, indestructible ABS seats contoured for comfort, and industrial-grade wheels for ease in mobility and storage. This recent accolade is not the first ADEX award for BioFit—in 2010, BioFit’s Skoop™ polyshell chair was awarded a Platinum ADEX. Design Journal recognized the Skoop as an edgy, yet practical, alternative to conventional multipurpose seating, combining vivid colors and contour with ergonomic performance and LEED® compliance. The Skoop features rugged one-piece shell construction, waterfall front and flexible backrest plus numerous caster, base and performance options.
