BioFit Engineered Products, a globally renowned manufacturer of specialized ergonomic seating solutions, recently introduced four new manufacturer’s representatives for its Southeastern U.S. sales region. The appointments enable the company to better serve customers and engage prospects in one of its fastest growing geographic markets. Additions include: O’Dell Group, LLC, representing Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee; LR & R Associates, LLC, representing northern Florida; Contract Resource Group, representing southern Florida; and, ALW & Associates, representing Georgia.

Tennessee-based O’Dell Group was founded in 2012 by furniture industry veteran Dan O’Dell. The company was established with the intention of building an independent representative group with a portfolio of manufacturers offering products with compelling narratives to meet evolving commercial furniture needs. Since its founding, O’Dell Group has expanded its coverage footprint to include Alabama and Mississippi for select manufacturers.

To bolster its presence in Florida, BioFit is teaming with a pair of state-based organizations which specialize in representing commercial and office furniture manufacturers: LR & R Associates and Contract Resource Group. Headed by Rick Noble, LR & R Associates of Ocoee will represent BioFit in counties north of Manatee, Highlands and Okeechobee. Contract Resource Group’s Robert Cohen, of Parkland, will represent BioFit in Manatee, Hardee, Highlands and Okeechobee Counties and points south.

While ALW & Associates services several southern states, its representation focus for BioFit will be its home state of Georgia. With a concentration on healthcare, education and office workspace solutions, the company represents a variety of modular, systems and other contract furnishing manufacturers. ALW & Associates is led by Steve Alvarado and headquartered in Atlanta.

Remarking on the company’s newest representatives, BioFit President Ed Metzger noted: “The Southeastern U.S. is such a burgeoning region for us, we’re fortunate to have aligned ourselves over a relatively short period with four quality rep groups.“ He continued, “The respective expertise and reputations of Dan, Rick, Bob and Steve and their organizations will not only allow us to confidently dedicate more time to current customers in the area but to foster new relationships and realize growth opportunities by introducing BioFit to specifiers and users who may not be familiar with us.”

The line is available in two series, Pro and Tech. The MVMT Pro Series has 13 ergonomic functions to address task specific user range of motion, and both series feature the exclusive MVMT QR Code Profile System, the first technology of its kind in the commercial furniture industry. The system provides customers with handheld, digital access to usage videos, warranty and reorder information and other tools correlating to the exact MVMT chair purchased by linking to a unit-specific microsite. It was developed to enable end users to become quickly and easily familiarized with their new chair and serve as a handy reference resource.

The bimos by BioFit Collection combines original design from European seating leader bimos with the proven ergonomic tradition of BioFit. The line’s lead model, Neon, features a quick-change replaceable upholstery system and was developed primarily for use in technology, laboratory, educational, healthcare and industrial workplaces. BioFit also offers a logo imprinting capability on the Neon, providing customers with the option to individualize their seating with their corporate brand. The swiveling Fin sit-stand from the Collection is also on exhibit. Fin was developed for tasks requiring prolonged periods of standing.

The BioFit Foundation line is comprised of specialty, task and multipurpose seating. Models in this line are designed for use in settings as diverse as clean rooms and static-control environments to food processing facilities, training centers and offices.

BioFit Engineered Products, a leading designer and manufacturer of ergonomic seating and mobile folding tables, has achieved accreditation from the Interior Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC) for its course “Demystifying the Process of Specifying Technical Seating for Clean Room and ESD Environments.” The course was developed to educate contract furnishing dealers, specifiers and other industry professionals on the construction techniques and workplace requirements related to specialized seating while enabling attendees to acquire career-enhancing continuing education credits.

BioFit recognized a need within the contract and commercial furnishing market for increased awareness about seating used in specialized work environments such as clean rooms and electrostatic dissipative (ESD)/static-sensitive spaces. While most professionals in contract-related fields focus solely on the office, administrative and public-facing settings of customers’ businesses, they frequently overlook the opportunity to address seating needs in technical operations areas of those same facilities. BioFit developed “Demystifying the Process of Specifying Technical Seating for Clean Room and ESD Environments” to help educate architects, interior designers, dealers and other furniture specifiers on the unique details surrounding technical seating. Upon completing the course, attendees will gain insight about industries that require clean room and static-control/ESD seating, become familiar with clean room and ESD environments and standards, and, understand the importance of the materials and techniques used in the construction of clean room and ESD seating.

The course is accredited and registered with the IDCEC for continuing education unit (CEU) credits. These credits will also be accepted by the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), International Interior Designers Association (IIDA) and Interior Designers of Canada (IDC). Those interested in additional details and registration should contact Ron Buettner, BioFit Director of Marketing and Central Region Sales Manager, at ron.buettner@biofit.com.

BioFit Engineered Products, a globally recognized manufacturer of specialized ergonomic seating solutions, will demonstrate its latest technical seating for laboratories and proprietary digital technology today through March 9 at Pittcon 2017. Headlining the exhibit are designs from the company’s premier line − MVMT™ – featuring the QR Code Profile System. Other highlights include models from the bimos by BioFit Collection − Neon seating with an exclusive quick-change upholstery system and the Fin sit-stand − as well as product demonstrations and consultation on key differentiators of specialized workplace seating.

MVMT seating was developed for use in the laboratory, technology, healthcare and industrial sectors, and in standing desk applications. Jointly created with Studio Fifield of Milan, Italy, the line combines precision and durability with an aesthetic not normally associated with traditional laboratory and technical workspaces. Today, BioFit will introduce the MVMT QR Code Profile System − the first technology of its kind in the commercial furniture industry − to laboratory specifiers. The system provides customers with handheld, digital access to user information such as assembly and operational videos, warranty and reorder details and other tools correlating to the exact MVMT unit purchased, eliminating the need to keep track of printed instructions and forms as well as various website URLs.

BioFit President Ed Metzger explained: “When developing the MVMT line, we wanted the entire user experience to be on the technological forefront. This not only included the form and functionality of the chair itself, but things like providing users with the ability to configure and order a new chair and know how much time was left on their warranty – right from a direct link to a site on their smart phone.”

The bimos by BioFit Collection is a collaboration between European seating leader bimos and BioFit. At Pittcon, BioFit will introduce laboratory professionals to Neon – the top model of the line – and the Fin sit-stand. Neon was developed primarily for use in technology, laboratory, educational, healthcare and industrial workplaces. Its quick-change replaceable upholstery system enables use in multiple environments within the same facility or instantaneous repair in the event of upholstery damage. The swiveling Fin sit-stand is designed for tasks requiring prolonged periods of standing and enables users to decrease stress on their legs and feet.

BioFit Engineered Products, a leading designer and manufacturer of ergonomic seating and mobile folding tables, now offers downloadable architectural symbols of products from its MVMT seating line. Two- and three-dimensional computer-aided design (CAD) symbols as well as those from the Autodesk building information modeling (BIM) program, Revit, are available through the company’s website to accommodate architects, interior designers and other space planners.

In response to a growing need within the architectural and interior design communities, BioFit added the ability to download 2D and 3D CAD and Revit symbols of models from its flagship MVMT seating line through its corporate website, biofit.com, and directly from its literature fulfillment microsite, biofit.info. The symbols allow designers and specifiers to place dimensional graphics of BioFit MVMT models they source or consider for facilities directly into their floor plans, enabling them and their clients to better visualize how the products will appear in the built environment. According to Ron Buettner, BioFit Director of Marketing, offering the downloadable symbols was a logical step for the company. He explained: “Like most industries, construction planning and facilities design has evolved rapidly from a technology standpoint, with today’s computer-generated prints heavily dependent on BIM or similar dimensional graphics of componentry, furnishings and other products. By proactively providing detailed symbols, we save architects and design professionals time and effort while ensuring their customers get a clear representation of how our MVMT series models look in their layouts.” BioFit does not charge for the architectural symbols and they are emailed directly to those requesting them once the order process at biofit.info is completed.

BioFit Engineered Products, a globally renowned manufacturer of ergonomic seating solutions and mobile folding tables, recently introduced a new adjustable footring for its seating products that is designed to increase ergonomic support for users and facilitate cleanliness in technical work environments. Designated the “AFP adjustable footring,” the component offers an alternative for seating used in today’s specialized work settings over traditional footrings developed decades ago.

The AFP adjustable footring is fabricated of a chrome-plated, 22” diameter tubular steel ring with an oval profile, and polished cast-aluminum spokes with a fingertip-control adjustment hub. The diameter is larger than traditional footrings, complementing BioFit seating models such as the MVMT chair, which has an abnormally expansive 2-inch seat slider range. The correlation of the larger footring with the extended slider range allows users to maintain comfortable, ergonomic positioning while conducting specialized tasks. Once adjusted, the footring locks firmly in place, as it is designed to support 350-lb. users and serve as a step up into high-seat-height chair models.

The seamless construction and absence of underside reinforcing ribs found on traditional footrings enables faster and more efficient cleaning. The AFP footring does not have a screw-type adjustment knob, eliminating an area historically difficult to clean and prone to dirt and bacteria buildup. Rather, its fingertip-control adjustment hub minimizes dust and grime buildup and takes less time to sanitize to workspace requirements.

BioFit President Ed Metzger shared: “With user-wellbeing as our touchstone, we continually look at ways to innovate − and sometimes re-engineer − to make our ergonomic seating better. With the AFP footring, our objective is to transition users from a serviceable, yet outdated part to a component which offers a more complete ergonomic experience and is easier to use and maintain.” The AFP adjustable footring is available on most BioFit MVMT and Foundation line seating models with seat height adjustment ranges greater than 22 inches.

BioFit Engineered Products, a globally recognized manufacturer of award-winning ergonomic seating and table solutions, recently introduced a proprietary innovation that delivers a unit-specific webpage to purchasers of each individual chair from the company’s newest seating line, the MVMT. Called “The MVMT Profile QR Code System,” this patent-pending technology is the first of its kind in the commercial furniture industry and provides customers with handheld, digital access to user information and other tools, eliminating the need to maintain printed instructions and forms as well as various website URLs.

With the MVMT Profile QR Code System, information specific to each individual unit is available by scanning the QR code on the label located on the under-seat control of every MVMT series chair. The system was developed to quickly and easily familiarize end users with their new chair and serve as a handy reference resource. The code directs to a webpage containing precise profile details including a picture of the unit, its manufacturing code, date of manufacture and time remaining on its original 13-year warranty. Each unit’s webpage also features a series of short, user-friendly operational and assembly videos, eliminating the need to retain and pass on printed instructions to shared or subsequent users of the chair. Users can also configure, get an estimate and order additional MVMT models from the profile page, and file a warranty claim should the need arise.

BioFit President Ed Metzger explained: “When developing the MVMT line, we wanted the entire user experience to be on the technological forefront. This not only included the form and functionality of the chair itself, but things like providing a user with the ability to configure and order a new chair and know how much time was left on their warranty – right from a single webpage on their smart phone. We realize people are so busy and no one has the time to track down a form or find an instruction sheet to pass on to a coworker. With the MVMT Profile QR Code System, the customer doesn’t even have to type a URL into the address bar.”

BioFit Engineered Products, a globally recognized manufacturer of award-winning ergonomic seating and table solutions, opened 2016 with the launch of a literature fulfillment microsite – biofit.info. The new site enables customers, field sales representatives and visitors to the company’s corporate website to order print literature or download digital copies – all at no cost.

The commercial furniture industry relies heavily on print collateral to convey product information to dealers, distributors, customers and prospects. In turn, architects, designers, facility managers and end users depend on catalogs and brochures to make informed purchasing decisions. BioFit found that managing the in-house resources and cost inefficiencies associated with pulling, packing and tracking literature orders was becoming overwhelming. Additionally, the company was aware it potentially was not serving its customers as well as it could, as an automated means to correlate requester and order information for future follow-up did not exist. According to BioFit Marketing Director and Regional Sales Manager Ron Buettner, “We needed to get out of the business of FedExing brochures and assembling binders every day and focus solely on serving customers and filling orders of our specialty seating products.”

BioFit collaborated with its literature print partner on an end-to-end, custom fulfillment solution. Site parameters included: Company branding and seamless integration with the BioFit corporate website and internal technology infrastructure; print-on-demand capability to eliminate large-scale literature inventory and facilitate rapid and waste-free updates based on product rollouts, model changes, etc.; dissemination of order intake, receipt, processing, fulfillment and tracking notification to applicable recipients at BioFit and the print provider, field sales representatives, and end users; the ability of users to not only order print literature, but to download digital versions; and, inventory tracking and low quantity alerts. In addition to direct access via the biofit.info URL, the site is also assessable from BioFit’s corporate website, biofit.com, by clicking on the Literature navigation button.

The fulfillment site quickly paid dividends, as orders manually processed through BioFit’s customer service department were reduced by over 50 percent within a week of launch. As long-term customers and sales representatives begin full utilization of the site, the company expects the literature fulfillment process will be fully automated. “The fulfillment site eliminated a costly and time-consuming task from our team, allowing us to concentrate on what we do best.” Mr. Buettner shared.

BioFit Engineered Products, a globally recognized manufacturer of award-winning ergonomic seating solutions, recently introduced two new sales leaders and a new manufacturer’s representative for one of its fastest growing U.S. markets. The appointments include Monet Stansbury as Eastern Regional Sales Manager, Brett Ritchie as Southern California Territory Sales Manager and Kevin Konstanzer as a Manufacturer’s Representative for Texas. Stansbury will lead the company’s overall sales initiatives in the eastern U.S. and Canada, while Ritchie will oversee sales efforts and the establishment of relationships with contract office furniture dealers, design and architectural firms and specifiers in his territory. With a 25-year background in contract furnishings, Monet Stansbury provides BioFit with proven sales and leadership skills honed with recognized market stalwarts including Kimball and Herman Miller, where she was a dealership Vice President of Sales. She has also served directly and independently as a representative for large and small manufacturers. Commenting on her new position, she stated, “I’m excited and prepared to lead our Eastern Region sales team and distributors. While some think the seating market is saturated, I see opportunity for growth as BioFit is highly recognized and fills a unique niche.”

Brett Ritchie brings over 30 years’ of contract furnishing industry experience in the Southern California and Nevada markets. His background includes working for prominent Herman Miller and Haworth dealers in leadership roles in sales, project management and operations. He is also well versed in training and furniture design. In 2002, he founded RC Associates – subsequently rebranded as RC Partners – where he and his partner independently represented leading contract and hospitality furnishing manufacturers. On joining BioFit, Ritchie noted: “I expect to help the company gain significant recognition in the Los Angeles marketplace. It’s vital to create a reliable atmosphere with prospective dealers, and I hope to develop that.”

A recent addition to All Tech Associates, Kevin Konstanzer will also provide BioFit with 30 years’ of industry expertise, honed primarily in the education market with School Specialty. When asked about challenges and opportunities facing the commercial and specialty furnishing segments today, Konstanzer shared: “With much of the economic climate in our region dependent on oil, funding has been reduced due to the decline in petroleum prices. However, there is still a lot of construction taking place and a tremendous influx of business. Coupled with the excitement surrounding BioFit’s new MVMT chair, there’s plenty of opportunity in the Texas market.” BioFit enjoys a robust alliance with All Tech Associates, which has served as a manufacturer’s representative for the company for many years.

When asked about the new additions to the company, BioFit President Ed Metzger noted: “Monet has an incredible level of expertise and energy that we anticipate will take sales in her region to the next level and beyond.” He continued: “We’ve long discussed the benefit of having a dedicated voice to those in the contract furnishing segment to tell the BioFit story and how we can complement their offering. Combined with his experience, Brett brings a unique perspective that will allow us to better penetrate this market in Southern California.” He added: “All Tech Associates has traditionally been one of our top performing representative organizations. With a polished skill set and ringing endorsement from [All Tech founder] David Aspinall, we expect that Kevin will be a vital asset in further expanding our presence in Texas.”
